Ever wonder where the name Basket"Bull” comes from?

When running an event, answering a phone call, or talking to people about the company, these are questions that we ALWAYS get:
Is BasketBull spelled right?
What does BasketBULL mean?
Why did you name your company BasketBULL?
Well, here's a quick history of where BasketBull comes from:
In 2004, when we launched the company, we were trying to come up with a name for the business. And the common theme among us, the Martin/Tabb family, was that we wanted to somehow honor our late Father/Grandfather, William "Bull" Martin.
Bull Martin was the patriarch of our family. He loved the game of basketball, starring at Cathedral High School and then going to play at Providence College where he lettered in 1943, before getting drafted into the U.S. Marines. He was known for his fierce competitiveness and being an exceptional shooter.
More than his basketball skills, Bull Martin was a true family-man. He was someone known for his loyalty, integrity, passion and love (for family and friends). He never passed on an opportunity to teach his grand-kids about life, family and sports. I remember numerous times when Bull would pull me aside to teach me how and why things were supposed to be done. He would do anything to see his sons and daughters sporting games. Even further, as his health declined, it never stopped him from watching his grandchildren play basketball and football, attending Cathedral and Somers High School basketball games and screaming at the officials from the sidelines.
Bull passed from the family just before Christmas in 1997 and is someone that we still talk about to this day. We all miss Bull a great deal, but he left a legacy within our family that has extended now three generations and we are doing our best to carry on his name.
