Greenwich Skills Challenge Recap
February 14, 2012
In the same gym where LeBron James announced "The Decision", some of the top youth basketball players from Greenwich took aim at the Greenwich Skills Challenge Crown. We knew we had a talented group when talented 2nd grader, Logan Galletta nailed numerous shots in the Hot Shot compeition. In the third grade boys division Tommy Harford and Flynn Milledge battled it out, with Tommy Harford using a great Lay Up Drills round to propel him to victory. In the fourth grade girls division we saw one of our strongest performances yet, with Kate Loughran showing consistency throughout each Skills Challenge to become the winner for her group. The fifth grade boys division saw two players, Oliver Milledge and Will Harford battle it out, with Oliver Middledge using excellent Hot Shot scores to win the division. Coming in first in the sixth grade girls division was Kim Kockenmeister, who had one of the highest scores for any sixth grade girls participants yet. The sixth grade boys division was a battle of two Robs - Robbie Bater and Robby Lanni. Robbie Lanni would use a stellar Lay Up round to claim victory in the division. Two seventh grade girls stood out with excellent all around scores. In the end ot was Jayla Faison edging out Shaye Galletta to win the seventh grade girls division. Our seventh grade boys division proved to be the toughest division yet across any location. Robert Clark used the best Hot Shot score of any competition so far to catch Jackson Trimmer to register as Co-Winner of the division. Both Connor Harkins and James Loughran also turned in excellent scores in this tightely contested division. The 8th grade boys division saw Alberto Larraguibrel dominate as he became just the third player to score over 100 in the competition so far. However Ryan Harford, Trevor Kelly, Joey Lanni, John Lori, and Jackson Caputo also had excellent compeitions - you can tell those kids are going to be players.
