HoopsFest Day 1 Top Performers

The game of the day definitely went to Wilbraham and Monson escaping with a 1-point victory over Kent School (CT) 66-65 in what was a quasi home guy for the Titans. Numerous inpressive individual performances were on display though throughout the day. Let's take a quick look at who impressed.
Tyrell Gumbs-Frater, Spire Prep - A smooth left-handed off-guard, Gumbs-Frater scored in a multitude of ways - pull ups, three's, and finishes at the rim. At 6'3, 190lbs, has a college ready body right now.
Marcus Ottey, Spire Prep - The 6'1 guard showed off skill, power and explosiveness on hiw way to a 15 point, 5 rebound day for Spire in their win over Dawson College.
Kylan Guerra, Kent School - Guerra was electric all night in this game. Was very effective with his quick pull up jumper, Guerra also showed his ranged connecting on 4 triples in their loss to WMA.
Kena Gilmour, Kent School - Gilmour was another smooth and effective lefty guard. Gilmour finishes well around the hoop and is tough to contain.
Wenyen Gabriel, WMA - His quiet 1st half was quickly forgotten as Gabriel was dominate in the 2nd half. Finishing with 21 points and 17 rebounds, Gabriel impacted the game on so many levels - scoring, rebounding, blocking shots, and energy.
Brenden Vessichio, WMA - Gabriel's counterpart, Vessichio had a very solid 19 point, 8 rebound night. The 6'4 guard was 8-15 from the floor.
EJ Christmas, Suffield Academy - Christmas is a 6'1 combo guard that run his team well. He also showed an ability to finish at the rim and hit the open 3.
Garrett Stephenson, Suffield Academy - At 6'6, 240lb, Stephenson does an excellent job carving out space and using his position to finish around the basket. Stephenson finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds in their win over Marianapolis Prep.
Sergio El-Darwich, Lee Academy - El Darwich is tough, athletic and skilled. Standing at 6'5 on the wing, he competes every possession and has skill to compliment his effort. In their 68-56 win over Barking Abbey, he had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
RJ Eytle-Rock, Barking Abbey (UK) - Eytle-Rock is a 6'5 wing that has a good skill set. Not the most athletic, he makes up for it with his knowledge and skill. He finished with 10 points in their loss to Lee Academy.
