Nick Mayo commits to Eastern Kentucky

Eastern Kentucky won the Ohio Valley Conference and reached the NCAA tournament this past season, the first time in seven years. Head coach Jeff Neubauer, who has since signed a five-year extension, got his 2015 recruiting class started on Sunday, earning a commitment from Messalonskee High School senior forward Nick Mayo. The news was first reported by Jeff Goodman of ESPN.

Mayo, the 6-foot-7 forward, had a breakout performance in July, starring for Maine MAC in the BasketBull Summer Championships. He continued his hot play during the July live period in Louisville, Kentucky. At the time of the AAU Nationals, Mayo had an offer from Maine, but after he left he added an offer from Eastern Kentucky, followed by ones from New HampshireVermont, Albany and Miami (Ohio), according to Verbal Commits.

As a junior, Mayo was an All-Maine honorable mention selection.
